The accident happened just before 3.30pm on Wednesday at the entrance to the car park in Dumaresq Street.
Police said there were several vehicles lined up waiting to go into the car park when the accident occurred.
“The 92-year-old male driving a mobility scooter commenced to drive through a gap in the car park at the same time a vehicle has moved forward, with the scooter becoming wedged under the vehicle and the male being knocked over,” New England Local Area Command’s Acting Inspector John Walkowiak said.
“He was treated by members of the public until police and paramedics arrived.”
The man was taken to Armidale hospital with shoulder injuries and remained in a stable condition on Thursday.
Investigations are continuing and any witnesses to the accident are urged to contact Armidale police on 6771 0699.
