Two O’Connor Catholic College students feature prominently in a three minute YouTube video outlining their views on what makes a good school principal.
Director of Catholic schools in the Armidale dioceses Chris Smyth said that students were very articulate around what works well in the school and what doesn’t work so well.
“Student feedback around the performance of teachers and leaders is really important,” he said.
“And whether we are doing recruitment or appraisals we are increasingly going to students for their feedback.”
The school has employed a professional recruitment company to try and secure the right applicant. Mr Smyth said it was hard to recruit principals and in order to do that they were using a process which was very welcoming and not too bureaucratic.
