The event, held at the equestrian centre, saw 60 riders turn out for a day of dressage and show jumping.
Secretary of the show jumping council Sue Mills said it was a successful event, with only a few people pulling out because of Saturday’s ordinary conditions.
“It is the sort of numbers we have been getting for the last couple of years,” she said.
“We did have a few more entries, but we had a few scratchings probably due to the weather conditions on Saturday.
“That is pretty much the maximum we can take, as well.
“We had a lot of junior riders which was really good to see and a lot of them were using the event in preparation for the Coonabarabran Expo this weekend.
“It was great to see so many people turn up, especially given the nature of the weather the day before.” The combined training event allowed for riders of all ages and abilities combine the two disciplines in a competition environment.
Some riders used the event as a stepping stone to train for higher levels of competition and others were able to participate for the social atmosphere.
“We have a lot of regular dressage riders who come along and it is a good opportunity for them to have a nice social try at showjumping, which is something they probably wouldn’t normally do,” Mills said.
“That is why we tend to start the jumping at the really low height of 30 centimetres, which not a lot of competitions do.
“We run the dressage from preliminary up to medium once again to cater for those dressage riders who want to do the higher level dressage tests and still come and have a go at the showjumping.
“We had a lot of riders whose horses were coming out to their first competition ever.”
The showjumping club host monthly outings and are planning their next combined training event for October.
