Playing at Norths’ home ground, the Demon Knights were down seven regular first graders but that didn’t deter the side as they managed to put points on the board early and hold the table-toppers to nil.
Coach Evan Quaife said his side’s defensive effort makes the win one of the most memorable in his time as coach.
“It was probably my most satisfying win as a coach over the last few years,” he said.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game at Norths’ home field but we scored the early goal and managed to keep them at bay for the rest of the game.
“To go up to Norths’ field, to roll the top of the table undefeated team with seven first graders out, I expect is a good indication of the depth of the club where we can bring players up and still do well.”
In the other matches, Easts drew with Oxley Vale and Souths defeated Inverell 6-0 in their away match.
This weekend, Demon Knights host North Companions, Easts host Inverell, Norths travel to Oxley Vale and Souths are at Moree.
