The event began in 2007 and raises funds and awareness to cure cancer.
The journey goes over 10 days and will arrive at The Armidale School at lunchtime on Monday, May 2.
Local riders participating are David Schmude, David Munday, Ross Burgess, Bill Wheeler, Scott Fittler, David Boundy, Amanda Coughlin and Jacqui Munday.
They will be part of a group of more than 200 riders, support crew and corporate partners. Tour de Cure managing director Matt Clarke said it is important everyday people take part in Tour de Cure to help raise money for the cause.
“Regional communities are often forgotten when it comes to health education and funding for cancer projects” he said.
“Tour de Cure is proud to help these communities with funds to support local cancer projects.
“We also share our ‘BE FIT BE HEALTHY BE HAPPY’ cancer prevention and education program with schools. “As one in three cancers can be prevented, we want to ensure all Australians are aware of this and know what to do to help prevent cancer.”
As the riders stop each night on their journey, members of the community are invited to join them for dinner.
The Armidale dinner will be held at the Ex-Services Club on Monday night with members of the team and the Sunrise crew on hand.
Sunrise will be broadcasting live from Sport UNE on Tuesday morning as the riders take off in their next leg of the tour. There is still time to show your support and donate by visiting www.tourdecure.com.au.
