Working to protect the interests of Australian war widows since 1946, state president Meg Green said the guild also offered a support network.

“It’s a milestone and I think it’s excellent that a women’s service has continued and grown so much in 70 years,” Ms Green said. 

“I think being friends with other widows allows for the latitude to be sad and feel the loss with people who understand.

“We are here for women who are grieving and need advocacy.”
