“The turnout at the Let Them Stay rally [on Thursday] far exceeded expectations," one of the organisers, Bea Bleile, said.
"Fifty five people turned out after only 24 hours notice at a time when Armidale hasn’t yet woken from its January slumber.
“Armidale Rural Australians for Refugees will not rest until Australia treats all refugees and asylum seekers as human beings."
Monday's rally will coincide with events across Australia supported by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, ChilOut, the Council for Civil Liberties NSW and GetUp!
“The abuse on Nauru, Manus Island and in the concentration camps on Australian territory must stop," Ms Bleile said.
“We will not rest until the camps are closed and mandatory detention has been repealed.”
Protesters should meet by the rotunda in Central Park at 5.30pm.
