A thong flip is no flop

RECORD maker Anthony Kelly hopes to lead Armidale to victory when the city attempts the world’s biggest thong throw on Australia Day.

But Armidale residents will have to beat the current record of 250 throws at one time.

“I attempted to set this record two years ago for Guinness World Records at Armidale High School but we were 16 thongs short,” he said.

“Council asked me if we could attempt the world record again and me being a local boy they asked me if I could assist them in making the world record.”

He said anyone was welcome to take part in the throw but they will need to bring their own thong and follow the rules.

“Because it is a public event and a multiple person record it takes a fair bit to work out how many people are there and to make sure we stick to the strict guidelines,” he said.

The thong toss will take place at 3.30pm at Civic Park.
