Minister for Ageing and Disability Services John Ajaka helped opened the new homes.
“The properties in Markham Street and Rusden Street offer more flexibility in daily living and were purpose-built following consultations with residents and their families,” Mr Ajaka said.
“The new homes ensure that people with disability in Armidale are prepared to transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme and live life their way.”
The NSW government invested more than $2 million to build the homes to make a help improve the quality of living for people with disability in the city.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said the new facilities allowed for a better quality of life for residents.
“These homes ensure the residents maintain their links to the local community and increase their independence,” Mr Marshall said.
Last month 10 residents moved into the homes, which are equipped with mobility assisting equipment.
The two homes offer five-bedrooms, modern facilities and 24-hour, seven day a week support by experienced staff.
