This year there are five ensembles bringing together young musicians aged from eight to 21.
They include the Armidale Youth Orchestra, the Armidale Youth String Orchestra, the Armidale Youth Sinfonia, the Armidale Youth Symphonic Winds and the Armidale Youth Wind Ensemble.
The gala concert includes string repertoire from composers Handel, Mussourgsky, Dvorak as well as orchestral music by Stravinsky.
“As musicians and artists we love to perform and learn,” musical director Warwick Dunham said.
He has conducted the youth orchestra since 2009.
The string orchestras are conducted by New England Conservatorium of Music head of strings Joanna Fairs-Wu and the wind ensembles by Benn Tracy.
The concert is sponsored by the University of New England, John Hadfield Piano, volunteers and parents.
