Quy Huy Peter Hoang, 67, was charged with 12 offences after allegedly molesting five children from three separate families between 2007 and last year.

All the victims were from Sydney's Vietnamese community.

On Friday afternoon, following a nine-week trial, a jury found him guilty of nine offences, including sexual intercourse with a seven-year-old girl.

He was also found guilty of abusing three other young girls.

However, he was found not guilty on two counts of committing an act of indecency against a young boy between 2007 and 2008.

The jury will return on Wednesday to continue deliberations on one charge.

As the verdicts were handed down, family members sobbed in the court room while Hoang glanced at the public gallery and remained composed.

The trial heard previously that Hoang allegedly found "sexual gratification" in young children and used his good reputation to hide the abuse.

"He has organised his life around his tendency and around these families so he can carry out that disposition he has got," Crown prosecutor Paul Leask told the trial.

There was evidence he carried a tub of cream in his briefcase and would rub it on his hands before he touched his victims.
