The blueprint comes as the community officially begin their goal to become Australia’s first 100 per cent renewable energy reliant town.
Uralla Shire mayor Michael Pearce said the community was incredibly proud of this achievement.
“It’s exciting times for everybody and it’s nice to be on the front foot of Australia,” he said.
“It’s all about the people. The community are the players in this role.
“We hope we can achieve those goals and utilise the different types of sources of renewable energy.”
NSW Environment and Heritage Minister Mark Speakman launched the Zero Net Energy Town blueprint commending the rural town for its commitment.
“Uralla is the first town in the whole of Australia to have such a blueprint,” Mr Speakman said.
“It means that Uralla will be the leading example about how small rural towns can reduce their energy consumption and lead us to a cleaner energy future.”
The minister said Uralla would utilise the two-stage blueprint which aimed to achieve a 40 to 70 per cent renewable energy goal over 10 years.
