Queensland police officer David Alley is attempting to break the world record of running around Australia while also raising money for a good cause.
He ran through Uralla yesterday and is tipped to reach Glen Innes in the next few days.
Mr Alley will be running almost 14,000 kilometres in under 174 days to raise money for not-for-profit White Cloud Foundation.
“They look after people who suffer from depression and anxiety but also their families and carers.”
The organisation hopes to establish clinics around the country to give help and support to individuals and their families and carers.
Mr Alley said helping the foundation was his main motivation for completing the massive challenge.
“It’s my motivating factor … to make a difference to other people’s lives through a foundation like this is such a huge thing,” he said.
“It’s more mental than physical but I would encourage anyone to go out and do something like this.
“I’m no different from anyone else, I had a dream and I made it happen. We have a goal of $100,000 and we are slowly getting there.”
