Both on track and on the tote, punters were on the mark throughout the meeting, with four of the eight races won by favourites.
In fact, the only race won by a horse in double figure odds was the first event of the day.
An encouraging crowd streamed on to the racecourse for the meeting, which was headlined by the first two-year-old race of the new racing season in Australia.
The Romantic Dream two-year-old Plate was won by heavily backed favourite Miss Amajardan for mother daughter combination Jenny and Melinda Graham.
A major upset kicked off the day with Grant Prosser’s Lord Averil [$51] winning at astonishing odds.
The four-year-old gelding beat Louis Tres [$11] and Our Gracious Betty [$71] by a length to complete a trifecta that paid a whopping $18,615.80 in race one.
Bill Thompson’s So You Know [$2] became the first favourite to score a victory on the day in the second.
The six-year-old gelding was completely dominant, winning the 1300m race by a huge margin of four lengths.
Sue Grills’ Couperin [$8] was second and Jason Riley’s Ensign [$5] was third.
Newtown [$4.60], for Stephen Gleeson, was too strong in the third.
The four-year-old gelding kicked away in the home straight to score its first career victory by a length from Sweet Holly [$2.20] and Dreamtime Gal [$11].
After Miss Amajardan won race four, Classic Double [$3.80] continued the favourite’s dominance with a half-length victory in race five.
The Sue Grills-trained filly was superb in its first ever race start to beat Charmainiac [$41] and Gotta Chance [$5].
Mark Mason’s De La Hoya [$1.70] was heavily fancied in the media in the lead up to Tuesday’s meeting and the fanfare proved to be right with the gelding winning race six by two-lengths.
Six Star [$5] was second and Blinkin Unreal [$31] was another length behind in third.
Dean Jackson’s One More Knight [$6] took race seven by a length from Zoe Is The Best [$26] and Handled [$11].
Armidale specialist Idle Shiver [$5.50], for Michelle Fleming, closed out the meeting with a length win in race eight from Champagne Flyer [$17] and Not Wanted [$21].
