The talk is part of a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics seminar.
Organiser Erica Smith said a report from Professor Chubb’s office showed a shortage of employees with science and technology skills.
“STEM is important not only because it pervades every aspect of our lives, but also because it
is vital to our future,” Dr Smith said. “Especially the future of our children.
“We need to be able to think critically and solve problems.”
Five guest speakers will be discussing the importance of this skill set as well answering questions after the talks.
“We hope to highlight that studying STEM subjects will be essential for jobseekers,” Dr Smith said.
“Employers are now demanding greater levels of skills and knowledge in STEM subjects.”
The free seminar will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 5.30pm the University of New England’s Arts Lecture Theatre 1.
