In this week's People of Armidale, we look at how our nannas spend their days.
These go-getter grandmas are active in our city and we love them for it - rock on ladies!
ELIZABETH O’HARA was knitting on the steps of Barnaby Joyce’s office when The Express caught up with her.
Ms O’Hara was doing her part for the Knitting Nannas Against Gas.
“We are knitting outside Barnaby Joyce’s office because of his and the governments investment in coal seam gas,” she said.
“An extraordinary number of people have stopped to talk about their experiences [with mining].”
The Knitting Nannas Against Gas protest every third Thursday from 11am to 1pm.
“We are trying to protect our land, water and future,” she said.
MARIA KNIGHT and her grandson Jacob were running errands when The Express caught up with them.
Despite the dreary weather, the two had just been for a swim and were dropping some letters off to the Post Office.
Ms Knight has just moved to Armidale in the last 12 months.
“It’s really lovely here,” she said.
Ms Knight said she loves being close to her grandchildren.
“I have two other grandchildren. Alana who just turned eight and one-year old Oliver,” Ms Knight said.
The two were ending the day with a well-deserved milkshake from Caffiends.
