To mark the special occasion, Armidale Dumaresq Council is running free tours of essential services. The tours will include the Water Treatment Plant, Waste Transfer Centre and Sewage Treatment Plant and Reuse Farm.
Councillor Chris Halligan said the tours gave important insight.
“The tours give a real idea of the complexity and scale that local government does,” he said.
Communications officer Joanna Harrison said the popularity of tours last year meant more had been offered.
“To allow more people to attend we are running two tours on Saturday,” she said.
“People get to tour working sites and see the real skillset that these council workers have.”
The tours will run on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday next week from 10am-12.30pm and 1pm-3.30pm.
Bookings can be made by phoning 6770 3600.
or emailing council@armidale.nsw.gov.au.
Tours will commence from the Civic Administration Building entrance at 135 Rusden Street.
