MEMBERS of Armidale’s Uniting Church took part in a “soup and slice” fundraiser on Sunday to raise money and toys for families in need at Christmas.

“We raised more than $200 and had about 40 presents donated to use,” co-organiser Susan McMichael said.
The event is part of a partnership between the Uniting Church’s social outreach committee and Family Support to help struggling families.
The group aims to raise money throughout the year to take the strain off families at Christmas.
“We donate all the money and presents to Armidale Family Support who give it to families in Armidale, Guyra and Walcha,” Ms McMichael said.
The church is already organising its next fundraiser with a meal in September to help overseas aid.
