The event was due to be held in March, but a bookings clash at Petersons Winery meant Armidale missed out on the festival when it toured the state.
But yesterday organisers confirmed the festival’s return, rescheduling it for November 21.
Mayor Laurie Bishop said it was welcome news for the city, particularly for business owners.
“It brought a lot of business to the city when it was last held here,” Cr Bishop said.
“Last year we incentivised people travelling to Armidale to use the business here.
“We’d like to do what we did last year.”
Cr Bishop said the event attracted tourists from the wider NSW region, which prompted an Armidale Dumaresq Council strategy to make the most of the extra foot traffic.
“The first year we had it, we had tourists complain the coffee shops weren’t open on a Sunday,” he said.
“So the next year we incentivised people to use the businesses.”
Festival organisers are still tight-lipped on the line-up for November, but previous acts featured in the show include Hunters and Collectors, Something for Kate, Diesel and British India.
Those wanting to find out who will be playing the November festival are urged to sign up for the “green club” online at www.adayonthegreen.com.au/register.
Cr Bishop said the switch to November was a welcome one, as weather may be kinder in the warmer months.
“I hope the rain doesn’t fall this year,” he said.
“Last year I got absolutely saturated.
“But it was a really great event because everyone was dancing in the rain.”
Ticketing information will be released closer to the date.
