Knitting needles at the ready, the women staged a “knit in” to protest the bank’s backing of mining.
Knitting Nannas Against Gas organiser Pat Shultz said the bank was key to mining by Indian company Adani in the Gailiee basin.
“Commonwealth bank is the second largest bank funding mining,” she said.
The Nannas were supporting 350 org, who have been staging protests at Commonwealth Bank branches across Australia.
Armidale’s Knitting Nannas have been running for two years, with yesterday’s knit-in their largest yet.
