The New England Writers’ Centre has partnered with the Sydney Writers’ Festival to bring the event live to Armidale.
Centre deputy chairwoman Beattie Alvarez said Live and Local would see speakers from the festival streamed today and tomorrow live from the writers’ festival to Armidale Dumaresq War Memorial Library in Faulkner Street.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community to be able to attend the Sydney Writers Festival,” Ms Alvarez said. “A lot of people are interested in these festivals but the cost and the inconvenience of having to travel to a major city makes it inaccessible to most people.”
Guest speakers at the festival will be streamed in the upstairs of the library and include talks from renowned authors such as Don Watson, Anna Bligh, Kate Grenville and Michael Frayn. T
he festival will be streamed today from 10am until 5.30pm and tomorrow from 10am until 12.30pm.
