Ascent workers will now be able to obtain forklift licences after Rotary members hand $4000 to the group at the Armidale Ex-Services Club on Thursday. Training for the licences was originally free at Armidale TAFE until this year when the program was cut.
Ascent Group coordinator Carrie Sauer said licences wouldn’t have been possible for workers at the group without the donation as the Ascent Group would have not been able to independently support.
Chloe Widders is one of the workers part of the Ascent group who will be taking part in the program as the only female.
Ms Widders said she is excited to have the opportunity to get her licence this month.
She hopes to expand her skills and get into the open workforce with the help of Ascent once she has qualified for her licence.
