This Mother’s Day, they’re encouraging it at their Last Night of the Proms concert.
Conductor David Gee wants music lovers to break out the flags when they take their seats, but they have to wait for the right moment.
“With proms, they usually play well-known pieces in the first part, and the second is a burst of patriotism and pomp,” Gee said.
“The program for the Last Night of the Proms includes music specially designed to appeal to Armidale audiences.”
A special feature will be the return to the Armidale stage by champion Scottish drummer James Walsh.
He will again play to Armidale audiences after making his debut in 1997 with his father Geoff Walsh, who is also playing the concert.
Gee, who brought the program to Armidale, modelled the program on the annual Last Night of the Proms concerts from the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The May 10 program is fashioned to suit all types.
Bookings can be made online at trybooking.com or in person at Carr’s Newsagency in the Armidale Mall.
