I READ with interest a recent article where local MP Adam Marshall is calling on his political rivals to make a submission to the Australia Energy Regulator over planned massive cuts to regional employment at Essential Energy.

What Mr Marshall fails to say is that it was actually his government that created this problem.
You see the rules by which the AER must abide are actually developed and agreed to by state governments through the Council of Australian Governments process.
The latest rule changes occurred on November 29, 2012 under the watch of the NSW Liberals and Nationals and it is these rule changes that are now impacting negatively on regional employment.
It was in fact Mr Marshall’s colleagues that helped develop, approve and now implement these rules which, according to Networks NSW, will result in more than 1,500 regional job losses across Essential Energy.
It is clear to me that Mr Marshall has no idea how the electricity sector works in NSW which would also explain why the NSW Nationals’ support for electricity privatisation is going to be such a disaster.
