“Yep we’re unchanged, that’s the first time I’ve been able to say that this season,” skipper Stephen Butler said.
City thumped Servies by 159 runs in last weekend’s must-win encounter on the back of a sensational all-round performance.
Hugh Reckford (75 not out) and Paul Woodford (67) starred with the bat, while Karl Triebe (3-9) and Butler (2-8) made light work of the Servies batting line-up.
“I couldn’t have been prouder on Saturday,” Butler said.
“To score 250 at the Sportsground on a slow outfield was a big effort.
“Then we came out and bowled well.
“It was very convincing and if we can copy that this weekend and the rest of the season we will be looking good.”
Butler is pleased with the momentum his side will carry into the one-day decider, but knows they face a much tougher opponent in the minor premiers.
The skipper highlighted Todd Francis, Dean Moore and Sam Uphill as the main threats.
“Todd is a fantastic cricketer, a good all-round cricketer,” Butler said.
“The key for us is to limit Dean and Todd with the bat and Todd and Sam Uphill with the ball.”
Bowling had been a surprising weakness for City early in the season, but their four quicks have all hit form at once and combined with the crafty left-arm spin of Butler, Easts may have a tough time scoring runs.
“I really like our bowling attack,” Butler said.
Triebe is regarded as Armidale’s premier quick, but his power with the bat has also caused opposition sides a lot of grief this season.
“Karl is the danger man for us, not only with the ball but the bat too,” Butler said.
After being named joint-premiers because of a wash out last season, City are chomping at the bit for another crack at a premiership.
“We are excited more than anything,” Butler said.
“I just hope we didn’t play our grand final a week early.”
