Schaefer belted 15 boundaries and a six in his knock of 88 and set up a 142-run win for Hillgrove.
Hillgrove skipper Brad King said the blistering heat was probably the main cause Schaefer didn’t convert his score into a century.
“He was unlucky not to get a 100,” King said.
“He was starting to get pretty tired.”
A number of Hillgrove batsman made starts and contributed to their huge score of 7-265 from just 38 overs.
Harrison King (31) moved up the order to number four and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, while Matt Baillie (24) looked in good knick at the top and Josh Croft (33) finished off the innings in style.
“The boys batted very well, Matt batted particularly well,” King said.
“Harrison batted well too.
“He’s becoming a key member of the team.”
Servies skipper Brad Widders (4-49) was easily the pick of the bowlers for his side and toiled away for 11 overs in the heat.
Hillgrove have had no problem scoring runs this season, the area they have struggled with has been taking wickets, but King had a full disposal of bowlers to use on Saturday and the results were evident.
Max Laurie (3-35) was excellent with the new ball after missing the previous few matches.
“Max was a breath of fresh air coming back in,” King said.
Harrison King (3-17) capped off a solid all-round match with three wickets and Scott Brennan (2-22) added to his growing tally.
“We had a lot more rounded team on Saturday,” King said.
“I had a lot more options to go to.
“Harrison bowled well and Scotty aimed up as well.”
