NSW Ambulance paramedics located in regional areas of NSW provide emergency ambulance coverage during their off duty hours via an on call roster.
To ensure a seamless and immediate response to Triple Zero calls at all times of the day and night, on call paramedics are required to take an ambulance vehicle to their residences.
Off duty on call paramedics may drive the ambulance to undertake other activities such as attending the gym, the supermarket or a sporting event.
This guarantees they can provide the quickest response possible to patients in need.
