The men claimed at about 11am the man entered a Brown Street home and approached them, shouting "I'm the boss" and brandishing the syringe.
The alleged offender took off when one of the men chased him with a piece of wood.
He fled on foot which prompted a short police search.
Police found the man around the corner, where they talked him down with him at the doors of a nearby hotel before he was arrested.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon.
