Across the road, Shell Coles continues to sell the same petrol for 3c more.
The move follows a backlash from motorists, who have taken to social media to vent their ire after revelations by The Express the city's fuel prices are the second highest in the state.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall accused the six stations of “ripping off” motorists and raised the matter with Fair Trading Minister Matthew Mason-Cox, who referred the complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
The watchdog is now investigating the city's service stations and what they are charging for petrol.
Tumut is the only other town in NSW that charges higher fuel prices, according to statistics compiled by the NRMA.
The six service stations in Armidale are supplied by Coles, Woolworth, Caltex and BP.
Mr Marshall said he had also been inundated with complaints about the high fuel prices from constituents.
One service station manager, who did not want to be named, agreed with Mr Marshall and said he had raised the matter of high fuel prices with his petrol provider.
“But they told me there had not been enough complaints from motorists in town, so the prices would remain,” he said.
