The War Veterans Cup has been remodelled this season in an attempt to end the Tamworth dominance of the event in recent times.
Instead of teams like Armidale playing a Tamworth rep side, they will merge with Inverell and Glen Innes to form New England, while Gunnedah and Narrabri will combine to form Namoi.
Those two sides will fight it out against the six Tamworth club sides.
Matt Baillie has been named captain of the New England side, which unfortunately will only feature Armidale players with Inverell and Glen Innes not making anybody available.
Armidale representative coordinator said bowling stocks have really taken a hit in recent times.
Sam Uphill and Karl Triebe will lead an inexperienced pace bowling attack.
The batting line-up is still very handy with Michael Dawson, Baillie, Scott Brennan and Brad Smith at the top of the order.
New England plays North Tamworth on Saturday and West Tamworth on Sunday.
