To claim the title, they will have to overcome an Oxley Vale Attunga side that has been in at least the last three first grade grand finals.
But the Scorpions have been overcoming the odds all season.
After a slow start to 2014, South kicked into gear in May and haven’t lost a game since, with the only blemish being one draw.
They also lost star goal scoring attacking midfielder Ben Wright earlier in the finals, but they just kept marching on.
It is a huge weekend for the entire South Armidale Club.
Following tomorrow’s grand final they return to the Armidale City Bowling Club to celebrate their 20-year reunion.
“Everyone is really excited,” coach Ruwan Cooper said.
“There is a good feeling around the entire club.”
Aside from Wright, Cooper and co-coach Michael Lord have the entire squad fit and at their disposal. “Everyone is right and raring to go,” Cooper said.
“I’m confident the boys can get the job done.”
There will be one change from last weekend’s side that upset North Companions 3-1 with Heath Milne moving into the starting line-up at attacking midfielder and 15-year-old goal scoring hero Josh Frost will move back to his usual spot of left back.
Cooper admits Oxley Vale Attunga will start favourites on Saturday, but he is more than content to carry the underdog tag.
“We’re happy just poking along,” he said.
South have had an almost unbelievable turnaround after their disappointing start and Cooper said the key to the form reversal will be one of the keys to bringing home a premiership.
“I put it down to mateship,” he said.
“We are all really close mates.
“We all bust our butts for the bloke next to us.”
South and Oxley Vale Attunga met once very early in the season, with the Tamworth side winning 3-nil.
“We have a completely different team now and a completely different formation,” Cooper said.
The club will be running a supporters bus to from Armidale to Scully Park for the grand final to give some much needed crowd support.
