The two Armidale sides have been arguably the two form teams of the competition in the second half of the season.
It is still unknown who will host next Saturday’s grand final, but North coach Andy Lennon said they and South can ensure its in Armidale if both win tomorrow.
“If we win and Souths win it will be in Armidale,” he said.
“That’s what we would like and that’s what I’m hoping for.
“A Norths versus Souths grand final would be great.”
The Redmen host Oxley Vale Attunga at Phil Wheaton Oval tomorrow in one of the two blockbuster semi-finals.
“We’re definitely ready,” Lennon said.
“This is a good time of year.
“We’re very pleased to still be playing.”
North have been dealt a significant blow with back Anil Rajanathan and striker Declan Druitt out of tomorrow’s clash after embarking on overseas adventures.
“We have had 14 or 16 blokes in our squad all year who can play first grade,” Lennon said.
“Hopefully we can fill those spots well.”
The two sides met only once this season with North winning 3-nil.
“We were pretty convincing that day,” Lennon said.
“They are a very good side and they’ve been playing some very good football.
“We won’t be underestimating them.
“In saying that if we play our best football we will give it a good shake.”
Renowned for their goal-scoring prowess, the Redmen have put extra focus on defence on the run into the finals.
“We have set ourselves up very strong defensively,” Lennon said. “We’re set up now so we’re very hard to break down.
“We have to then be quick in transition.
“It’s going to be a tight one I have no doubt about that..”
