A woman has been charged with murder following the death of a three-year-old boy in Oberon in the central tablelands of NSW last month.

The boy's mother initially told police that her son had tripped on their dogs' leads and fallen over, hitting his head, while on a family walk in Oberon on August 3.
The boy fell unconscious and was flown to The Children's Hospital in Westmead in a critical condition. He died three days later in hospital.
Strike Force Aldyth, comprising detectives from the homicide squad and the Chifley local area command, was established to investigate the boy's death.
Police on Tuesday said they had arrested a 40-year-old Oberon woman and charged her with the boy's murder.
She was refused police bail to appear in Bathurst Local Court on Tuesday.
