That win capped off an undefeated second round for the Scorpions.
“It was a good way to finish off the season,” South coach Ruwan Cooper said.
“It kept the momentum going.
“We wanted to keep playing how we have been during the second half of the year.”
The Scorpions scored early and often on Saturday as they jumped out to a 3-nil lead, before adding five more in the second half.
Jamie Wright, Ben Wright and Michael Tobin all scored doubles for South, while Sterling Wylie and Paul Wright also hit the back of the net.
“All our strikers scored goals, which is pleasing,” Cooper said.
Cooper struggled to single out any one player who stood out on Saturday.
“It was very hard to pick with everyone playing so well,” he said.
The Scorpions now host Gunnedah United at the Armidale Sportsground on Saturday in the first week of the semi-finals.
The two sides only met once this season, with South coming out on top 4-2.
“We’re expecting a tough one,” he said.
“We beat them last time, but that was a lucky win.
“It’s not going to be easy at all.”
South’s injury list is empty at the right time of the year and they will also be boosted by the return of mid-fielder Heath Milne, who is expected to come off the bench against Gunnedah.
That match begins at 2pm on Saturday.
