As part of Legacy Week, they will be selling badges to help more than 180 widows of ex-servicemen in Armidale and Uralla receive help from Legacy.
Last year the local branch raised $16,000 but legatee Rob Taber said this year they were aiming for $20,000.
But Mr Taber said, while the fundraiser was their largest for the year, it was not enough to cover all their expenses. This why the organisation employed other ways to attract donations.
That includes variety nights and raffles.
From Thursday to Saturday community members can purchase badges in the main business areas of town including the Mall.
Mr Close will be selling badges at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital but he and Mr Bashford are not the only World War II Armidale Legacy members in the city.
Roy Forsyths and Tom Killen both served and are reserve members.
Legacy also supports 30 widows in Guyra, 77 in Glen Innes, 47 in Tenterfield and 34 in Walcha.
