Renai Kray, 36, appeared before Armidale Magistrates Court dressed in a bright, patterned blouse where she was facing two sets of charges relating to an assault and drug possession.
The matter was before Magistrate Karen Stafford yesterday, who said Kray had already been convicted for charges of common assault and destroying or damaging property.
Defence solicitor John Adams said his client intended to lodge an application to annul the conviction and she was "adamant about pleading not guilty" to the charges.
This type of application could only be made if the defendant was absent from the court when the conviction was handed down.
The magistrate adjourned those matters until next Monday to allow the application to be lodged.
During the same proceedings Kray pleaded guilty to possessing a small amount of cannabis, which her solicitor said she was using as pain relief for a slipped disc.
The court heard Kray had previously been convicted in relation to drugs after she successfully brought drugs into a prison.
Mr Adams said the incident occurred when Kray had driven into a prison car park, where she was stopped and drugs found in her car.
“You might be sent to jail next time, even if it is a small amount,” Magistrate Stafford told Kray, explaining her record was not a happy one.
“I know … thank you so much, Your Honour,” Kray replied.
She was placed on a good behaviour bond for nine months and fined $300.
