A series of free workshops will be held for local tourism operators and marketers aiming to support the development of the State’s tourism industry.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said the Workshop Program, developed by the Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, will be held in Armidale on 13 and 14 October at the Quality Hotel Powerhouse.
“This is a chance for tourism operators, destination marketers and conference organisers to develop their knowledge of the industry and to hear from experts on growing and nurturing their businesses,” he said.
“Attendees can also receive an update on the Government’s Regional Visitor Economy Funding program, including how to access and utilise the Destination Management Plan and information for this region.”
Mr Marshall said the workshops reflected the value and importance of the tourism industry to NSW.
“The tourism industry is a vital to the NSW economy; it’s worth $27.9 billion (year end March 2014), directly employs 158,000 and involves more than 95,600 businesses,” he said.
For the inaugural NSW FIRST Workshops in 2013, 446 tourism industry representatives attended, with many sessions booked out in advance.
