Ashford may have only won one game this season, but they sprung one of the surprise performances of the season when they held the Rams to a 24-all draw when the two sides first met in June.

“That’s certainly been talked about this week,” Rams president Terry Carson said.

Carson admits the Rams played poorly on that day, but said they were also out enthused by the Roosters.

“That was probably the worst we’ve played all year,” he said.

“We were our own worst enemy as usual.”

Armidale are almost assured a semi-final spot already with two rounds remaining, but can seal it with a win tomorrow.

The Rams are expected to win and win well, but can count on Ashford not rolling over and handing them victory.

“We certainly know they will give it their all,” Carson said.

“But we just need to concentrate on what we need to do, completing our sets and getting to our kicks.”

The Rams welcome back big forwards Apakuki Mate and Shaun Collins tomorrow after they both missed last weekend’s loss to Glen Innes, but they lose wingers Anthony Strong and Paul Quinlan.

“Kuki (Mate) and Shaun will give us that extra go forward,” Carson said.

“We just need to find a couple of wingers.”

Meanwhile the Uralla Tigers host assured minor premiers the Moree Boomerangs at Woodville Oval tomorrow.

The Boomerangs haven’t lost since the first weekend in May and are steaming towards back to back grand finals.

Uralla comes into the match off a big loss to Inverell and will again have their work cut out for them against the Boomerangs.
