Uralla Tigers coach Carl Press had a renewed optimism heading into Saturday’s trip to Inverell, but the Tigers were met by a Hawks juggernaut rolling towards the semi-finals.

“We got killed,” Press said of the 74-4 thrashing at the hands of the Hawks.
“They were just too good.”
The Tigers forfeited reserve grade to strengthen first grade, but a number of late withdrawals left Uralla with only nine fresh players to start first grade, with juniors filling the remaining four spots.
The match was called off six minutes from full time, with the Tigers having no players left on the bench.
After a slow start to the season, Inverell have been the form side of the comp in recent weeks.
Their huge forward pack has been running rampant in a four week stretch that includes wins over Moree Boars, Glen Innes, Ashford and now Uralla.
“They blew us off the park,” Press said.
“Their front rowers were too good.”
Press said his side didn’t play anywhere near as poorly as the score-line might reflect.
“We played one of our best periods of footy in the first half,” he said.
“They were just too good and too big in the mud.”
Youngster Greg Press continued his terrific run of form and was named players’ player for Uralla. Dwayne Daley and Ron Kelly were also strong for Uralla.
Press and Uralla have been on the wrong end of a couple of big score-lines this year, but he believes Inverell may be the team to knock off competition favourites Moree Boomerangs.
“I haven’t played the Rangs, but they were the best we’ve faced this year,” he said.
“I was pretty impressed with them.
“We threw a bit at them and they held us out and got on a roll.”
