Mr Freak was awarded a $12,000 Foundation Teaching Award for his website Commerce Quiz.
The site tests students on their knowledge of commerce subjects in the NSW syllabus.
Mr Freak will use the money to ensure Commerce Quiz covered all 15 subjects in the NSW syllabus.
It currently covers eight.
Mr Freak said he was motivated to undertake the project because of the number of young people going bankrupt.
“Financial literacy is one of life’s skills. One of the major groups facing bankruptcy are those under 24,” he said.
The site also ranks schools on the number of students with high distinctions.
Duval High School is sitting fourth out of about 350 schools with 29 high distinctions.
