TAS did not field their strongest side, but never the less were no match for the dominant Wimbledon side.

TAS fielded a year 11 side to start the match a year 12 side to finish the match, a far stretch from their strongest First XV.

The match was split up into four 20 minute quarters.

The opening exchanges were fairly scrappy from both sides, with a number of turnovers and penalties dominating proceedings.

Wimbledon opened the scoring eight minutes in with a penalty to lead 3-nil.

The first try didn’t come until the 28th minute, but that opened the floodgates.

That try was scored in the right corner and a brilliant side-line conversion gave the tourists a 10-nil lead.

Wimbledon went on a try scoring rampage following their opening try and ran away with the match.

The English side used a strong kicking game to pin TAS deep in their own half for the majority of the match.

TAS winger Lachlan Pollard scored his side’s only points of the day with a try in the third quarter.

TAS coach Jamie Moore praised the English side on their performance.

“They were enthusiastic and liked to spread the ball around, playing a fast, free-flowing game which was uncharacteristic of the Northern Hemisphere style of rugby,” he said.

“A strong backline and speed on the wings meant they certainly had the advantage on the day.”
