Two men charged over staged shooting

A MAN who allegedly shot his friend in order to make a dodgy compensation claim was arrested in Armidale on Tuesday.

Police have accused the 21-year-old of staging the shooting at a Coffs Harbour shopping centre last year.

It is believed he shot another 21-year-old male in the shoulder on June 15 so the "victim" could make a fradulent workers compensation claim.

The alleged shooter was charged with armed robbery, causing danger with a firearm, fraud and two counts of aggravated break and enters.

He fronted court yesterday and was refused bail.

The "victim" was arrested in Coffs Harbour today and is expected to be charged this afternoon.
