Sitting fifth on the ladder, South’s green and gold strikers will need to find a way through the Redmens’ defence or risk missing a finals berth.
It will be a massive game for the team who have lacked consistency this season.
“We need to play a 90 minute game if we have any chance of a win,” South Coach Ruwan Cooper said.
“Last week against East we were awesome for the first 25 minutes and then we got all out of shape in the second half,” he said. “You can’t do that against a team like North or they will punish you.”
South are still testing different tactics during training in an effort to find some more firepower up front.
“Scoring has been a problem for us this season,” Cooper said.
“We know we won’t get many chances against North.”
“But we have some talented guys up front that I know will get the job done.” Possession will be important too with North dominant in the midfield.
South team captain Ben Wright, pictured above, will be key for South.
“The longer we can keep the ball the less chance they have of scoring,” Cooper said.
“It is always a tough game when we play each other and we really need the three points this week.”
In the other round 14 match, East travel to Guyra.
The last time the two teams met, East won 3-0 and on current form are likely to take the three points again.
A result that would not help South’s chances of making the finals.
