“I’ll never stop grieving for her,” Mr Adams says.
“She was so selfless; even on her final day she was putting others before herself.”
That final day was last Wednesday, when Tiffany Adams, at just 28, passed away at Tamworth hospital after a torrid battle with cancer.
Her sudden passing – she was diagnosed with a new tumour only three weeks earlier – has left Mr Adams devastated and forced to bring up his two small boys alone.
But in a moving gesture, a group of close friends have established an appeal to enable Mr Adams to realise his wife’s dying wish – to buy his own home.
“She said to me in hospital ‘I want you to look after the boys ... find somewhere that’s yours, a home’,” Mr Adams said.
The “House for Camo” fund has set a $20,000 target for a deposit and has already reached close to $5000.
Mr Adams said he was humbled and overwhelmed by the cascade of community support.
“I don’t even know most of the people that have donated; it’s just amazing,” he said.
“ I feel truly blessed to have found such a lovely place to live and raise the boys.”
Originally from Dubbo, the family moved to Calala a year ago for Mr Adams to take up a position as a fridge mechanic with KL Air.
Tiffany was diagnosed with a melanoma on her shoulder two years ago but the couple thought she was in remission until doctors discovered a tumour on her back in March.
The tumour had spread to her lungs and three weeks ago, doctors told Tiffany it was terminal.
Mr Adams said amid all the heartbreak, his focus remained firmly on his two boys – Caleb, 3, and Charlie, 1.
“Charlie obviously doesn’t know what’s happened but Caleb keeps asking where his mum is,” Mr Adams said.
“It’s pretty daunting. I’m trying to be strong for everyone else and I just want the boys to be OK.”
Mr Adams’ sister-in-law, Kelly Adams, is spearheading the appeal, being run through website Go Fund Me.
“They always wanted their own home but with all the medical bills, they never had quite enough money to do it,” Mrs Adams said.
“I just thought this would give them one less thing to worry about and I’m going to make it happen.”
She described Tiffany as a quiet but deeply caring woman, whose sole focus was her family.
