AROUND 40 people attended the first community service for many years on Sunday at the historic St John's Church, Kellys Plains.
The Anglican church had scarcely been used prior to TAS taking possession of it in 2008.
TAS Chaplain, Reverend Richard Newton said the school hoped to hold more services in the coming months.
"We've only had the church for four years but we just felt like we could put something on for the community out there," he said.
"It's only going to be an occassional thing, we've got a responsibility with it now and we thought I'd be nice to have services probably once a term."
The original church building was built of timber in 1896 and consecrated a year later.
It was gifted to TAS by the Perrott family, who had relatives buried in the churchyard prior to the construction of the 1923 church.
