‘‘Today I received an email from my Federal MP, Louise Markus, addressing me as ‘M/s’ Dixon,’’ reports Diana Dixon, of Blackheath. ’’I used a popular search engine to discover what M/s may mean. Here is a list of possibilities from the Free Dictionary website, the fourth one being perhaps the most worrying: M/S Metre(s) per Second, M/S Modelling and Simulation, M/S Milestone, M/S Master/Slave, M/S miles per second, M/S Minesweeping, M/S Miniature Sheet (of stamps). There are more, but the question remains – has M/s become a new title?’’
