Knights look to slay Norths FC

SPEAKING ahead of tomorrow’s game against North Armidale FC at  Rologas, Demon Knights captain Chris Daly said his side is firmly focused on securing a win.

The Knights are currently sitting in second position behind Norths in the Northern Inland Premier League’s northern conference and are looking to securing that place going into the business end of the season.

“We are approaching tomorrow’s game as if we need to win against one of our local rivals,” he said.

“In saying that as, we head towards the finals, we are able to win and secure second place on the ladder it means we can look to secure a home semi final.”

The last time the two sides met Demon Knights had a player sent off the field early in the first half and went on to suffer a 3-1 defeat.

“We need to make sure we remain composed when we are put under pressure,” Daly said.

“If we start well and focus on winning the ball quick, I am confident we can come away with a win.

Last week Demon Knights played Guyra in what Daly described as a very physical game but said tomorrow’s match would be a different case.

“Tomorrow’s game will be about tactics and with two good teams going head-to-head the game will based on skill,” he said.

North Armidale’s coach Andy Lennon agrees with Daly in that tomorrow’s game will be well-fought.

“Knights are a good side and we need to make sure that we do bring our best game when we face them tomorrow,” he said.

Last year Norths finished out of the top two positions on the Premier League ladder but this year Lennon said his side’s new philosophy to playing has helped with their current winning streak.

“The team is into that winning mentality and it has really boosted their moral,” he said.

“This weekend we want to walk away with another good result to continue that going into the finals.”

In other northern conference games, South Armidale will  face Guyra at the Armidale Sportsground, East Armidale will lay Glen Innes FC away while Joeys FC have a bye.
