With the course in pristine condition there were some terrific scores over the weekend.
The action kicked off on Friday with an individual stableford.
Stephen Teege was too classy in A grade, coming in with 39 points, just in front of Glen Hinds on 37.
B grade was taken out by Robert MacKenzie with 38 points as he edged out Brad Gibson on a countback.
David Peach produced a stellar round in C grade to win the division with 39 points, two in front of Jamie Urquhart.
Saturday was a fourball stableford as Matthew Brown and Kevin Marshall combined to compile an excellent score of points to win the event. Phil Green and Ian Purvis were second on 47 points, while Trevor Carson and Craig Hyde won the scratch.
After a runner up finish earlier in the weekend, Urquhart rebounded to win Sunday’s fourball par event with Craig Dussart on plus 11. Second were Lynne and John Garner on plus 10. A chipping competition was held on Sunday afternoon.
Matthew Brown was the closest male, while Carol Hurst won the female division.
Armidale Golf Club general manager Tim Allerton was still buzzing after a successful weekend yesterday.
“It went very well,” he said.
“We had over 300 players over the course of the weekend.
“Everyone had a great time.
“We are very pleased with the overall result of the carnival.”
Allerton said the course received glowing praise from visitors and locals alike.
“The course is in great condition,” he said.
“We had lots of comments about the wonderful state of the greens.”
Planning is already underway for next year’s carnival, with the first meeting to be held today.
“It is now a firm event in our golfing calendar.”
