The Edmonds family will be holding a reunion at The Ponds, Wollomombi over the Easter weekend. The family will be celebrating 100 years of farming on the property, over three generations.
April 20 – 27
The Glenreagh Mountain Railway will be conducting a week long working bee at its Glenreagh locations. The working bees will cover repairing and cleaning the cottage, cleaning up around Glenreagh West yard, further track clearing, cleaning the two passenger carriages, cleaning 1919 (the steam locomotive) and other minor tasks around the site. Clearing of the Glenreagh yard will take place on April 22. If interested to take part in any of the working bee, interested volunteers will need to be paid members which will cover insurance purpose. Costs start at $40 a person which also entitles them to quarterly newsletters. Working bees are held throughout year at various dates. April 23
The Felt Tip Theatre Company will be staging an original work to commemorate the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth, with the gala premiere held at The Hoskins Centre, TAS, that evening with free cake and champagne. Felt Tip’s creative director Alex Robson and Felt Tip regular Nick Sinclair are the dynamic duo bringing Shakespeare’s life and works to the stage in this two-man epic. Further performances will be held on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3, both starting at 7.30pm, and a matinee will take place at 1.30pm on the Saturday. Tickets are $30 for the gala, $20 for adults, $15 for students/concessions and $10 for kids, and are available from Carr’s newsXpress or from feltiptheatrecompany.com. The Armidale Business Chamber will be hosting the very first Welcome to Armidale event at the Bowling Club. The event is free with drinks at bar prices. It aims to help make anyone new – or newish – feel at home, with a warm welcome and an info pack to help navigate local services and features. Please extend an invitation to anyone you know who might like to be properly welcomed to town. Or better yet, round up all the new arrivals you know, and bring them along.

Armidale Cancer Support Group meets from 10am to 12noon at the Wicklow Hotel, corner of Marsh and Dumaresq Street in the function room upstairs (lift available). This group is for anyone who has had or has a diagnosis of cancer and is over 18-years-old. The group aims to provide emotional support, sharing the common experiences of cancer and learning some coping strategies. A variety of methods are used including guest speakers. This month’s speaker will be Cancer Council representatives on the topic of information and complimentary therapies. Cost is free with tea and coffee kindly provided by the Wicklow and cakes generously donated by Moxon’s Bakery Armidale. For more information please phone Fiona Ord on 6776 9694.

Armidale Care for Seniors Inc will be holding an active ageing - healthy seniors expo at the Armidale City Bowling Club. The expo will include stalls and seminars encouraging family, carers and seniors to learn what services are available for them within the community.

The Uralla Branch of the United Hospital Auxiliaries meeting will be held at 2pm in the CWA rooms at the Memorial Institute in Bridge Street. Fourth Tuesday of the month
The Armidale Dementia Carer’s Support Group meets at the New England Medicare Local on 213 Rusden Street. Anyone who is caring for someone with dementia or is a friend or relative of someone with dementia is welcome to attend.
