CURRENT under-19 Australian Cross Country Mountain Bike Champion Holly Harris has secured sponsorship with The Anytime Fitness Trek Mountain Bike Team.
This sees Harris stand alongside 2012 Olympians Rebecca Henderson and Dan McConnell.
As part of her inclusion in this team, Harris has been assisted with a new bike and she hit the local mountain bike club ride last week to test it out.
“It was awesome to try out my new bike, and doing it with my local club on a local course was lots of fun,” she said.
Harris’ collaboration with Anytime Fitness Trek Mountain Bike Team has seen current National Cross Country and Marathon Mountain Bike Champion take on Harris’ coaching duties.
“My new coach is based in Melbourne and she has me on a more skills-based program because the courses I am riding on are becoming alot more technical,” she said.
“So I do a lot with my Dad and follow all of the local mountain bikers around and see what they are doing as well as getting out on the road with the road cyclists.”
Harris has returned to Armidale following a training camp in Canberra that was a world selection camp for the junior men, which the junior girls also attended.
“It was great to train with so many other athletes in Canberra,” she said.
”The girls are not ready for selection on the world championship team, but it was great to be there and know what I am working towards.”
Harris will now focus on the Australian national series that commences in January next year where she hopes to defend her Australian title.
“I am going back to the national championships to defend my jersey and I will definitely be aiming at next year’s world championships.”
